Kawhi Leonard is really working on a hip-hop album that ‘people didn’t know that they wanted’

L.A. Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard missed all of last season due to injury, and he has stayed busy off the court in unexpected ways.

Leonard, who was injured during a game against the Utah Jazz during the postseason and later required surgery, last played on June 14, 2021. Just a few months later, however, the two-time NBA Finals MVP released “Kawhi Leonard Presents Culture Jam Vol. 1” on Oct. 22.

According to its website, Culture Jam aims to “challenge the norms” that exist at the intersection of sports and entertainment. Eesean Bolden, who is Leonard’s creative partner, recently told PEOPLE’s Natasha Dye that this was a “passion project” for the two parties.

“We wanted to see how people respond, because we want to give people things that they want. And a lot of people didn’t know that they wanted a Kawhi Leonard Culture Jam project.”

The first project included popular artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Wale, Ty Dolla $ign, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Polo G, Rod Wave, and Gunna.

Bolden says that the next project is expected to feature Swae Lee (from the duo Rae Sremmurd) and Cordae. As of now, there is no expected date for a release, but the project will raise money for Inspire Ghetto Kids Foundation.

Leonard, who was also a backup dancer in a music video for Drake last year, continues to show the world that he is a fun guy.
