Kawhi Leonard is a total star without saying a single word in this new JoeFreshGoods commercial for New Balance

For a guy who we know almost nothing about, Kawhi Leonard sure does give us an A1 performance every single time he’s on camera.

This dude is secretly hilarious. There are no two ways about it. We got proof of that in the Way Too Sexy music video with Drake and now we’re getting it here again with New Balance.

The best part? Kawhi doesn’t say a single word. That’s actually the entire point of the commercial.

This spot is showcasing designer and creative director JoeFreshGoods’ new “Conversations Amongst Us” sneaker collection with New Balance. The point of the collection is to highlight the understanding that Black people in America have amongst one another, whether you know a person or not.

Joe described the theme in High Snobiety not too long ago.

“Conversations Amongst Us” is about conversations, whether it’s thoughtful conversations, barbershop conversations, hair shop conversations, or on the phone gossiping. The biggest goal is to make sure I uplift my culture and bring on different stories that I’ve never seen before. We make all this [expletive] cool, so I have to touch on these stories that can uplift everybody.”

A simple head nod can say so much. And that’s perfectly captured in this commercial here.

And, I’ve got to say, Kawhi Leonard was really the perfect person to capture it. It’s not even just the head nods. It’s the facial expressions, the subtle body language. Did y’all see his face when the clerk mispronounced his name?

This is just great, man. Dude really has that stuff down. He can really act. And he seems to be pretty hilarious.

No idea what comes after Kawhi’s basketball career. But I selfishly hope, whatever it is, it comes with sneakers and acting.
