Katy Perry referred to her fiancé Orlando Bloom’s ex-wife Miranda Kerr as her “sister” as the pair attended the 20th G’Day USA Arts Gala in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday.
The pair were pictured together arriving for the event, before Perry, 38, honoured Kerr, 39, with the Excellence in the Arts Award.
Perry spoke of her close bond with Kerr in a speech before the Australian model received her accolade.
She said: “Many of you may be confused as to why I’m presenting Miranda with this award.
“It doesn’t fit the ex-wife, new wife narrative. Many in the media would like to see us mud wrestle... but this is about love, and Miranda is love.
“I’m so grateful for our modern blended family. It’s like I gained another sister, one with whom I usually sidebar from the main family chat and agree with.”
Kerr was married to Bloom, 46, from 2010 to 2013 and the pair share a son Flynn, 12. She later remarried to Snapchat CEO and co-founder Evan Spiegel in 2017, and they share two children.
Perry and Bloom later began their relationship in 2016 and share daughter Daisy, born in August 2020. The couple got engaged in 2019.
Perry and Kerr looked to get on greatly as they posed together in glamourous ensembles at the G’Day USA Arts Gala over the weekend.
Perry stood out wearing a shiny gold bralette and matching high-waisted puffball maxi skirt, as she wore her black hair in a bouffant updo with sideswept bangs.
The Teenage Dream singer accessorised her look with gold embellished bangles and a stack of hoop earrings, and was seen beaming while standing arm-in-arm with Kerr.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel was a chic vision in a fitted white bandeau dress with ruched detailing, and wore her down in loose waves for the special occasion.
Both women modelled identical rosy pink blush and lipstick at the event, along with sleek black winged eyeliner.
Kerr previously discussed her relationship with Perry as she appeared on the Drew Barrymore show in November 2020.
She said at the time: “We really do always think of what is the best thing for Flynn, and I just think that’s the most important thing.”
