Katie Taylor sends Eddie Hearn public ultimatum over Dublin fight

Katie Taylor has publicly called on Eddie Hearn to make a May 20th homecoming fight happen.

The Queen of Irish boxing was due to fight Amanda Serrano on that date. The fight was likely to take place in the 3 Arena as opposed to Croke Park, with financial disagreements scuppering a fight night in the 82,000 seater stadium.

Serrano has had to pull out of the May 20th fight after picking up an injury in training. But Taylor still wants to fight in Ireland on this date, and has publicly called out her promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing to make a fight happen between Taylor and Undisputed Light-Welterweight Champion Chantelle Cameron.

"Let’s get it done @EddieHearn, this homecoming has waited long enough! @3arenadublin is available so let’s give Ireland a night to remember on May 20th.

"Let’s go @chancam91, happy to move up in weight for the opportunity to become a two weight Undisputed champ."

A potential fight between the two undefeated fighters would likely be one of the biggest female matchups of all time.

If Cameron's Light-Welterweight titles were on the line, it would give Taylor the chance to become an Undisputed World Champion in two divisions.

The Northampton native has campaigned for the fight in the past and just two days ago tweeted that it would be an 'honour' to face Taylor:

"Would be an honour to share the ring with the very best in boxing and challenge myself. Unfortunately, it ain’t happening next for me BUT what a fight it would be. 2 Undisputed. 2 Undefeated."

Responding to a post that read, "It is a crime if @chantellecam doesn't get to step in and fight Katie Taylor now", Cameron wrote: "Crime committed."

And Cameron (17-0) has already confirmed that she would be up for the fight, commenting on Taylor's post "Let's do it."

Eddie Hearn has in the past been open to a matchup between Taylor and Cameron, who is also under the Matchroom umbrella, and remarked last November that the Northampton native would be an 'obvious' choice to take on Taylor.

He said last November: "The reason I created the tournament (to bring together the world 140 belts) was to give Chantelle Cameron the opportunity to become undisputed, to set up the Katie Taylor fight.

Eddie Hearn (Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing)

"That is a big, big fight now, and if the Serrano fight can't be made in the first part of next year then I think Chantelle Cameron is an obvious choice."

With both fighters campaigning for the fight, it seems Taylor v Cameron is the most likely bout to take place on May 20th, provided the event goes ahead.
