Irish and women’s boxing legend Katie Taylor has reunited with her father Pete Taylor for the first time in almost a decade.
The pair shared a ring together for some training for the first time in almost 10 years, with Pete admitting ‘words can’t express what it means to me’ in heart-warming Instagram post.
Katie Taylor Reunites With Dad Pete Taylor
Pete Taylor is well known for being a great coach, having trained some of the best fighters from the country of Ireland. He is also perhaps more well known for being the father of Irish boxing legend and women’s boxing trailblazer Katie Taylor.
Pete Taylor and his daughter Katie somewhat changed the face of amateur boxing, particularly in Ireland. Under her father’s guidance, Katie Taylor won Olympic gold, not to mention winning five World Championships, six European Championship amongst much more.
Although Taylor herself is incredibly humble and would never admit it, her success and ability was the reason female boxing was welcomed into the Olympics. Not to mention being a trailblazer for it after turning professional with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing back in 2016.
That same year was the year ‘KT’ split from her father Pete, teaming up with Ross Enamait who she has been with for the entirety of her professional boxing career. Now, almost ten years on from their split, Katie and her dad Pete have once again shared the boxing ring.
The pair were back in the boxing ring for the first time in almost a decade, with the two-weight undisputed world champion being put through her paces by her father. The successful Irish boxing trainer took to Instagram with a training video of their session, expressing his delight at reuniting in the ring with his daughter.

Pete Taylor On Sharing A Ring Again With His Daughter Katie: ‘Words Can’t Express What It Means To Me’
In a heartfelt and warming Instagram post, Pete Taylor expressed pure delight and happiness at sharing the ring with his daughter once again for the first time in almost a decade.
Almost 10 years on from their split, the trainer and boxer were in a boxing ring once again, with Katie Taylor’s dad showing just how much it means to him to be reunited with his daughter:
“Absolutely brilliant to be back training with my daughter this week. Words can’t express what it means to me,” Pete Taylor wrote as the caption to his Instagram video on the pads with daughter Katie.
Katie Taylor is currently enjoying some down time outside of camp, and likely won’t fight again until the summer. Following her rematch victory over Amanda Serrano back in November, it remains to be seen who ‘KT’ will fight next.
She has always dreamed of headlining a show in Dublin at Croke Park, which may be a possibility in 2025 or 2026. Whatever happens next for Taylor remains to be seen, whether that be with her father in her corner or not.
