Katie Taylor confirmed that Conor McGregor hasn’t been in touch with her over his ongoing spat with Amanda Serrano’s manager Jake Paul.
The Pride of Bray joked that McGregor hasn’t asked her to ‘chin’ the social media star as he continues his war of words with the American.
Taylor is set to fight Serrano in what has been billed ‘the biggest fight in women’s boxing history’ at Madison Square Garden on April 30.
Crumlin fighter McGregor and Youtuber Paul are expected to face off in a multi-million euro bout at some point in the near future.
Paul’s brother Logan, also a popular figure on Youtube, went the distance with Floyd Mayweather, Jr in a boxing match last year.
And Mayweather has offered to fight promoter Jake as well, just like he did McGregor in a nine-figure fight in 2017.
"I'm [going to] fight Conor McGregor in five fights, it's gonna happen. I'm [going to] fight McGregor for sure, he's a b****," Paul told ring legend Mike Tyson recently.
"He's already ducking me, I'm [going to] beat McGregor [in] five fights just exactly like you said, five fights from now, what's up?"
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the April showdown with Serrano, Taylor chose to play down the potential enmity between McGregor and Jake Paul.
“No, they don’t get on,” she laughed. “But he hasn’t been telling me to chin him.”
Taylor and Serrano have also been framed as adversaries over the years as they’ve sought to get a deal done for the former to put her undisputed title on the line.
An initially scheduled bout in March 2020 was postponed due to Covid-19 before Serrano pulled the plug on the rescheduled bout due to concerns over the division of the pot.
With both fighters now set to earn equal seven-figure sums from the event in New York, all concerns have been put to the side.
And Taylor was careful not to draw attention to their differences but rather what they have in common as fighters from small islands, Taylor from Ireland and Serrano from Puerto Rico.
“Me and Amanda come from small countries that are very proud to punch above our weight in the ring.
“I come proudly from a path that has been walked by Wayne McCulloch, Barry McGuigan, Steve Collins and Carl Frampton and she has legends like Miguel Cotto and Felix Trinidad.
“We bring all our heritage and fighting pride and it will feel like our whole countries are in New York.”
