Katie Taylor got emotional as she opened up on just how close a Croke Park fight was to happening.
Taylor fought Amanda Serrano earlier this year and the stars were aligned for a rematch in Croke Park.
Such was the hype surrounding a rematch, it was touted that the 82,000 capacity stadium would sell out.
But Taylor instead is fighting in Wembley Arena this weekend and a rematch against Serrano is far from a sure thing.
And the Olympic gold medal winner appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani as she spoke about just how close she was to getting the Croke Park fight.
She said: "I was ready to jump right back in for an immediate rematch and we actually had Croke Park sealed off for one of the dates in September but I think Serrano and her team wanted some more fights under her belt before jumping back into a rematch.
"We were always ready to jump straight back in.
"We were in talks with Croke Park and the date was sealed off and just the thoughts of having my homecoming fight in front of 80,000 people is the only thing that could possibly top Madison Square Garden.
"The thoughts of it is spine tingling to me."
And when pressed about the fight going ahead she said: "I hope so. I don't really know where she is and what her thoughts are on it. Croke Park can easily be done and I hope I will be making my homecoming fight next year."
