Katie Taylor fans slam Bob Arum over comments on women's boxing ahead of Amanda Serrano fight

Katie Taylor supporters have hit out at Bob Arum after his bizarre comments on women's boxing ahead of Taylor's fight with Amanda Serrano.

Arum claimed that people 'don't pay attention' to women's boxing and compared it to the 'Premier League against women's football'.

Katie Taylor is scheduled to take on Amanda Serrano on April 30 and is being promoted by Matchroom Boxing and Eddie Hearn.

Speaking to iFL TV, Top Rank promoter Arum said the fight won't draw anywhere the same interest as the fight he will stage on the same night between Oscar Valdez and Shakur Stevenson.

'As good a fight as that is, I mean, come on. For whatever reason people don't particularly pay attention to the women's fights," he said.

"ESPN made the schedule and they couldn't care less. I don't want to denigrate fights and I don't want to be accused of being anti-women in sports but I'm telling you this is like the Premier League against women's football."

Former Youtuber and now boxer, Jake Paul lambasted Arum for his comments and ladled him a 'dinosaur.'

In a tweet, he went on to say how the Taylor Serrano fight will 'make history'.

The response didn't stop there as Taylor's fans voiced their outrage at the clip.

@RokerEndDweller tweeted: "I’d prefer to see the Taylor fight 100%. He’s comparing apples and oranges trying to compare womens boxing to womens football."

@tdragons345 said: "I don’t care if it’s a women or a man. You have to respect them going in the ring and leaving it all out there. With that being said Serrano has been doing this for 10 years and at 7 weight classes. If you can’t respect what she has done for women boxing, than you wrong."

Taylor and Serrano is considered arguably the biggest fight in women's boxing history.
