Katie Taylor has congratulated Amy Broadhurst and Lisa O'Rourke following their World Championship wins.
Both Broadhurst and O'Rourke struck gold for Ireland in Istanbul on Thursday by winning their bouts against Algeria's Imane Khelif and Alcinda Panguana of Mozambique respectively.
Broadhurst was triumphant in the light welterweight category, while O'Rourke triumphed at light middleweight.
They became just the fourth and fifth Irish fighters to win gold at the World Championships after Taylor, Kellie Harrington and Michael Conlan.
Taylor took to Instagram to congratulate both O'Rourke and Broadhurst, who sparred with the Bray Bomber ahead of her recent Madison Square Garden showdown with Amanda Serrano.
The undisputed world lightweight champion wrote: "World Champions!! Congrats to Amy Broadhurst and Lisa O'Rourke.
"Champion of the world @baby_canelo.
"World champions @baby_canelo @lisaorourke528."
Taylor had already backed Broadhurst to be 'the future of Irish boxing' prior to her historic fight with Serrano.
She said: “Amy is a phenomenal fighter.
"She’s got all the skill in the world, but not just the skill she has the heart and the grit as well.
“I brought her in specifically for this fight, she has been perfect preparation for this fight so I think Amy is going to be the future of women’s boxing as well.
“She’s only going to get better and better over these next few years and it was just great to share a ring with her over these last few weeks, to get those rounds in was perfect preparation.”
Broadhurst was delighted after her dream came true in Istanbul, saying after the win: "I believe I still need days to understand what I did today.
"I have been dreaming about this day since my childhood and worked almost twenty years to win a big championships.
"I had to be patient today and not make any mistakes against the counter attacking Algerian.
"I felt in the second round that my strategy worked and I knew I could make it.
"I don't remember what my coach Zaur Antia told me in the second break but I gave it everything in the third."
Taylor also phoned O'Rourke to congratulate her on the success.
O'Rourke said on her win: "I can't find any words now.
"I won the European U/22s in Croatia in March but this something unexpected for me.
"My game plan is always to be on top of the podium but I am over the moon after this success, I had to keep my distance in the final and follow Zuar's and John's instructions."
