Katie Taylor comments on potential retirement

Katie Taylor has spoken about her future retirement.

The comments were made as the Bray Bomber is set to fight Argentine Karen Elizabeth Carabajal next weekend. Taylor will be putting up her belts and impeccable record in the bout in the UK's capital.

Her Argentinian opponent is also undefeated. However, commentators have said Carabajal has never faced anyone of Katie's calibre.

Speaking to DAZN about her eventual retirement, Katie said she still loves boxing but admitted she can't go on forever. She said: "I obviously know I can’t do this forever; I don’t know if I want to take punches for the rest of my life."

"But I absolutely love my sport, I love training, I’m not sick of the early mornings and I’m not sick of the cold morning, the running sessions, the sparring sessions, I genuinely do love my sport."

The upcoming bout will mark Katie's return to where she had her first professional fight - London's Wembley Arena. And she is looking forward to her return.

She said: "It's hard to believe it's been almost six years since I made by pro debut there so it's great to go back now and headline. It's been an amazing journey so far but there are still lots of great fights out there for me and I'm excited about what's still to come."

Katie was also named the world's most marketable boxer on a list of 50 athletes. Notably, Conor McGregor did not make the list.
