Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson goes down this weekend, in one of the most unusual yet highly-anticipated fights of the year. 19 years after retiring following a defeat to Kevin McBride, ‘Iron Mike’ is official back at 58-years-old as he is set for his 59th professional boxing fight on Friday night (early hours Saturday morning UK time).
Bar an exhibition fight with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr back in 2020, Tyson hasn’t laced up a pair of gloves for a proper fight since June 2005. On that occasion, he retired on his stool and was defeated by McBride, calling time on his career in the aftermath.

Although the two-weight undisputed champion believes nothing will faze Tyson, Katie Taylor does have slight concerns over his age. However, the Irish boxing star also admitted that ‘Iron Mike’ looked ‘very good’ in his 2020 exhibition fight with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr.
When asked by The Guardian whether she has any concerns over Tyson’s age, Katie Taylor believes she does, but is glad to see that he is living a clean life now, which showed in his exhibition with Roy Jones four years ago:
“I do definitely have those same concerns. but he did look very good against Roy Jones. He definitely hasn’t lived the cleanest life since then.
“But I think over the last few years he’s cleaned himself up. We’re hoping that shows through on the night, but he obviously has amazing experience.
“Nothing is going to faze Mike Tyson. It’s very interesting, but I have a real soft spot for Mike Tyson. He’s a hero to many of us fighters,” Taylor summarised.
