Katie Taylor accused of being 'scared' by Jake Paul following $2million Amanda Serrano rematch offer

Katie Taylor has been accused of being "scared" by Jake Paul after the Bray Bomber mocked him for suggesting a change in weight for her rematch with Amanda Serrano.

The Puerto Rican's promoter claims he has $2million available for Taylor if she comes down nine pounds from their first meeting to featherweight, where Serrano is the unified champion.

Paul is the American's promoter and masterminded, alongside Eddie Hearn, a huge clash between Taylor and Serrano for the undisputed lightweight world title in April, which Taylor won, reports The Mirror.

And despite initially seeming cordial during the build-up to the fight, the relationships between Paul and both Taylor and Hearn have soured. Paul is one of the sport's most notorious and controversial figures, and has even managed to draw the famously soft-spoken Taylor into a war of words in recent weeks.

After suggesting that Taylor meets Serrano at her preferred weight following his fighters' uncomfortable move up to 135lb, the 2012 Olympic champion laughed off the suggestion, branding it "the most stupid thing" she had heard. In response, Paul took to social media to brand her "scared".

Serrano had been due to return to the ring earlier this month as the co-main event to Paul's own return against Hasim Rahman Jr but the card was cancelled after a row about the latter's weight. She will instead fly to Manchester to take on Sarah Mahfoud on the undercard of Joseph Parker's clash with Joe Joyce.

Paul, meanwhile, expects to fight in October and claims to have issued an offer to a "big-name opponent" but has offered few clues as to his identity. The 25-year-old will be taking to the ring for the sixth time having defeated fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA star Nate Robinson and former MMA standouts Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

Paul had agreed a deal with Tommy Fury before the Brit was banned from flying to America for a press conference which led to him being replaced by Rahman Jr. It remains unclear whether Fury has resolved his issue and whether he would be considered as an opponent for Paul.
