Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next sees former glamour model reveal real reason for drink driving crash

Katie Price is set to reveal the reason behind her crash in a new documentary which airs tonight (March 7). Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next, follows Katie's 19-year-old son Harvey as he settles into the National Star College in Gloucestershire, in a huge step for both him and his mum.

In September 2021, reality star Katie overturned her car and ended up in hospital after drinking and taking drugs. Three months later, in December, the former I'm a Celebrity contestant was handed a 16-week suspended jail sentence for drink driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Tonight's show will see Katie's mum, Amy, reveal that her daughter sounded 'suicidal' after the accident, which happened on September 28. Katie's sister, Sophie also mentions in the documentary that it was obvious Katie's mental health suffered following the ordeal.

Sophie explains: “When I saw the police there, I thought, ‘She’s really done it this time’. She’s like the cat with nine lives but I looked and thought, ‘This is going to be a nightmare’. It was a shock.

"It was absolutely awful. She could have killed someone or killed herself.

Katie Price has admitted she was 'lucky nothing happened' when she crashed her car in 2021 (ITV)

“Kate puts on such a front, you think, ‘She’s alright, she’s fine’. Clearly, she’s not. When people have mental health problems they’re very good at covering it up, and Kate is very good at covering up when she’s not feeling right.”

In January, Katie spoke out about her crash during an appearance on Good Morning Britain. The mum-of-five explained: "The events leading up to it were very traumatic and it’s been very traumatic afterwards,

“There’s reasons why I got in that car, my mental state, when I’m ready to talk about it all I’ll talk about it. I feel ashamed about it, but it was all traumatic build up to it all and the reasons I’m still dealing with now. I think people shouldn’t judge people - there’s always reasons. I’m seeing a therapist.”

During the appearance, Katie was quizzed about how she feels now, to which she told presenters that she was in a 'very good headspace'. Tonight's documentary will see Katie admit that she was 'lucky' that she came out of the accident alive.

Speaking to her loved ones, Katie says: "There’s no one to blame for me getting in that car but myself. But if people could see, that night, what was going on in my head . . . I wasn’t telling myself not to get in the car. I just thought, ‘I need to go’. So I’m lucky nothing happened."

But the main focus of tonight's documentary, which airs at 9pm on BBC One, is Harvey, the son of Katie and former professional footballer Dwight Yorke. Last year, Harvey headed miles away from home to start college in Gloucestershire.

Viewers will be taken on a journey with Harvey and see his struggles and triumphs, as he settles into college without his mum. Harvey's new carers have to work out how to deal with Harvey's challenging behaviours; the carers decide that the best way to persuade Harvey to take his medication is by filming him doing so, then sending it to Katie.

Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next will air tonight, Monday, March 7, at 9pm on BBC One.
