Katie Price's mum has revealed why she always liked Dwight York the best out of all her daughter’s exes, despite saying she thought he was a "womaniser".
Amy Price said her "heart sank" when her daughter revealed she was dating the footballer because of his reputation with women.
Despite her misgivings about her daughter’s new partner Amy said Dwight will always be her “favourite” because he gave thm Harvey.
In her book The Last Word, serialised in the Sun, Amy revealed how Katie visited an abortion clinic three times but in the end decided to go through with the pregnancy.
While Dwight disappeared after Katie fell pregnant, he was there for Harvey’s birth but was told not to sign the birth certificate over doubts the child was his.
“He seemed over the moon and was clearly delighted as he came out of the room with Harvey in his arms,” she wrote.
“Dwight continued to see his son and he and Kate went to register Harvey’s birth together.
“But on the way there Dwight took a call from his agent telling him not to go ahead because they wanted Harvey to take a DNA test to make sure that Dwight was the father, because Harvey was so pale.”
The test later proved that Harvey was his son and he put his name on the birth certificate.
However, Dwight's visits with his son became few and far between, with the former footballer previously admitting: "It is a combination of different things, one my time schedule and being based up in Manchester and a footballer on an everyday basis.
"Not sitting here and say I'm a total perfect father, I've made mistakes along the way and I would love to turn the clock back."
Amy also described how Harvey’s diagnosis of septo-optic dysplasia, autistic spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and pathological demand avoidance affected the family.
“Deep down, Kate was devastated by Harvey’s diagnosis but she adored him and rather than hide him away, she set out on a mission to persuade the entire world to love him as much as she did,” she said.
Amy explained her daughter’s attitude was, “why hide him away because he is disabled?”
Despite being a good mum and “fighting for Harvey from day one” Amy said she was disturbed by her daughter’s lack of “boundaries” around her family’s private life.
She described a trip to LA to see an endocrine specialist for Harvey where Katie also took the opportunity to meet Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.
Amy checked into an LA hotel with Harvey, while Katie accepted Hefner’s invitation to stay at the Playboy Mansion.
Amy recalled how she was woken up at 1am to a knock on her hotel door. “When I opened it, I found Hugh Hefner with eight of his bunnies – including my daughter – standing on the other side,” she said.
Hefner told me: “You know, your daughter is a very naughty girl, don’t you?” and before I knew it, Kate was snapping a photo of me and Harvey with Hugh and the other bunny girls.
“I know my daughter and at this particular moment she was a proud mum wanting to show off her child.
“But – on reflection – that was when I sensed the boundaries around her and our family’s private life were collapsing, and I didn’t like it.”
Amy shared how the family had to contend with “cruel” headlines which implied Katie's party lifestyle was somehow responsible for Harvey’s disabilities. But the conditions are genetic, she emphasised - nothing her daughter did could have caused them.
