Katie McGlynn sends fans into a frenzy as she teases debut album after Corrie and Hollyoaks

Katie McGlynn is currently showing a different side to her acting talents as Becky Quentin in Hollyoaks.

She played sweet-natured machinist Sinead Tinker in Coronation Street from 2013 until Sinead's tragic death after battling cancer in 2019.

Her role as racist Becky in the Channel Four soap Hollyoaks is a huge departure from much-loved Sinead on the Weatherfield cobbles.

And now Katie, who shot to fame as Jodie 'Scout' Allen on the BBC school drama Waterloo Road, has caused a frenzy by teasing that a pop career could also be calling.

The Rochdale star shared a photo of herself with blonde hair from an old photo shoot, before she transformed into a brunette to play Becky.

And she kidded with a winking face emoji: "Debut album dropping soon."

The snap did resemble an album cover as Katie, 28, looked thoughtfully off into the distance as she posed in a red-striped denim jacket and hotpants.

And fans hoped the fun post means that Katie could be launching a singing career.

They flocked to tell her they 'can't wait' to hear her music.

alachibmusic said: "Hang on Sinead/Becky Now Sings is well I’m excited for this."

andrewfer100 told her: "I can't wait."

alanmercury007 wrote: "That's great news Katie love and I'm so proud of you to can't wait love."

And chad4villa said: "I can't wait also you are looking gorgeous."

Last week there were harrowing scenes featuring Becky and Serena Chen-Williams played by Emma Lau.

Becky became aggressive after spotting Serena with a parcel received from China, and linked it to the COVID-19 pandemic in a vile outburst.

Katie admitted that she felt uncomfortable filming the storyline to highlight sinophobia racism.

The actress,, who joined the Channel Four soap last summer, typed: "This week @hollyoaksofficial, Becky is involved in a Sinophobia racism storyline.

"We felt it was an important story to highlight given the huge rise of Sinophobia! ⁣

"I love playing characters that are completely different to me, but this actually made me feel a bit uncomfortable if I’m honest!

"Unfortunately, Becky’s character is one that does exist in the real world and although it’s certainly not one whose views I agree with at all, it’s an issue that needs to be highlighted and called out for what it really is… racism!"

The star added: "Please remember that what Becky says and does onscreen is no way reflecting my personal views and if you have been affected by the issues raised in any way, for help and support please visit: www.channel4.com/4viewers/help-support."⁣
