Katherine Legge is set to make history as she becomes the first woman to compete in a NASCAR Cup Series race since Danica Patrick in 2018. The 44-year-old native of England will be driving the No. 78 Chevrolet for Live Fast Motorsports at Phoenix Raceway this Sunday.

Legge has previously made five starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and most recently raced in NASCAR at Road America in 2023. She also participated in the ARCA race at Daytona International Speedway last month. With a diverse racing background, Legge has competed in various series, including seven IndyCar Series starts last season. Notably, she holds the record for the fastest qualifying time by a woman in the Indianapolis 500.

For her NASCAR Cup Series debut, Legge will be sponsored by venture studio DROPLight and Sherfick Companies, a real estate and construction development business. Expressing her excitement, Legge stated, 'Entering the NASCAR Cup Series is a dream come true. Racing stock cars has been an incredibly fun and new challenge that’s given me a renewed sense of vigor for this sport.'

Legge is no stranger to breaking barriers in motorsports, being one of nine women to have raced in the prestigious Indy 500. She boasts four career victories in sports car racing and has also taken part in events like the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

As she gears up for her historic NASCAR Cup Series debut, Legge's journey in the world of motorsports continues to inspire fans and aspiring racers alike. Her dedication and passion for racing serve as a testament to the hard work and determination required to succeed in this competitive sport.
