Kate Winslet was left in tears as she accepted the award for leading actress for drama I Am Ruth at the BAFTA Television Awards on Sunday night.
The actress, 47, was left stunned when her name was called and immediately burst into tears.
Kate was joined by her daughter and co-star Mia Threapleton, 22, who also broke down in tears as she congratulated her mum.
The mum and daughter shared an emotional hug and kiss, before Kate went up on stage to collect her award.
As she took to the microphone, Kate joked: "Guaranteed to be the only one of the night to cry."
The Titanic star then unfolded her acceptance speech but admitted she couldn't see due to her tears.
"Thank you, thank you so much. This means a great deal because it really does mean that small British television dramas can still be mighty," she said.
"Dominic Savage our director, god I can't see you. I am going so blind, I am so old now. This is all you, your delicate handling of real painful stories that really do happen to women.
"It is not only powerful but brave and it is also important. We need this, we want to be heard. Thank you for giving us and creating this space for us to tell our stories," Kate added.
She then grabbed hold of her award and continued: "If I could cut this in half, I would give the other half to my daughter Mia Threapleton. We did this together kiddo."
Mia could be seen in her seat crying and blew multiple kisses to her mum on stage before calling out: "I love you."
"There were days when it was agony for her to dig as deeply as she did into very frightening emotional teritory sometimes and it took my breath away."
As Kate headed off stage, she stopped for an interview with fan-favourite YouTuber Amelia Dimoldenberg.
"You would think I would have some degree of composure, wouldn't you," Kate admitted.
"Do you know how old I am," she asked Amelia. "I am 47 and I did my first film when I was 17 and you would think I had a system that worked for keeping your heart from racing and thumping in your mouth and feeling like you are actually going to be sick all down yourself."
Mia starred alongside her mum in the TV drama I Am Ruth, where Kate plays concerned mother Ruth who tries to help her teenage daughter get through a mental health crisis.
Mia's character Freya becomes consumed by the pressures of social media.
It was the first time that Kate worked with her daughter, who she shares with her ex-husband Jim Threapleton.
The biggest night in UK television saw Ben Whishaw bag the leading actor award for BBC One's This is Going to Hurt.
Elsewhere on the night, Bad Sisters bagged best drama series and its star Anne-Marie Duff won supporting actress for her performance on the show.
Supporting actor was won by Adeel Akhtar for BBC's Sherwood.
The programme was hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, who made a savage joke about Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield just minutes into the show.
Romesh started the gag by stating: "Some incredible programmes have been nominated this year."
"Imelda Staunton is here," pointed out Rob. "It's exciting isn't it."
He continued: "She's nominated for her performance in The Crown, apparently Phil and Holly got to watch that a couple of days before everybody else."
"A little bit of edge for you early doors, do you like that," quipped Romesh.
