Kate Middleton won't be 'insecure' like Diana and is confident Princess of Wales - expert

It has been two months since the Princess of Wales assumed her brand new title after the sad death of the Queen

The creation of Prince William as Prince of Wales saw Kate take the title once held by her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, meaning it is now back in use for the first time in 25 years.

Almost straight away, the comparisons between the two women started - even though sources at the time said Kate wanted to "create her own path".

And now she is two months into her new role, one royal expert has said that although there are some similarities between the pair - Kate is much more confident and won't resort to self-deprecation and wisecracks like Diana.

Royal author and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine Ingrid Seward told the Mirror: "As the new Princess of Wales, the former Catherine Middleton has every enviable attribute.

"Like Diana, she is stunning to look at, has an amazing athletic figure and dresses beautifully.

"She also has the glossy long hair of a fifties movie star, classic good taste and a charming demeanour. She is almost perfect, but not so much so that you feel envy instead of admiration for her.

"Catherine has a way of getting children to respond to her, which is invaluable as the majority of her work revolves around the young or very young.

"It is flattering to be compared with an icon like Diana. But the two women are quite different.

"Catherine would not attempt to do things the Diana way. She will do them her way. She has the support of her husband and if things work as they hope they are trying to do a slightly different kind of royal engagement.

"When Catherine is working on her own, she has confidence in what she is doing but is subtle about it. She is unassuming, unpretentious and real. She is the only person who could follow Diana and yet make a difference in a different way.

"Diana only felt happy when she was doing good, but to counteract her insecurity she giggled made wisecracks and was self-deprecating. Catherine doesn’t have to do this."

Meanwhile, Ingrid said that Kate takes her public duties as Princess of Wales very seriously and she along with William and King Charles has proven the Queen was right in having confidence in them for taking the monarchy forward in the modern age.

She added: "Before her public engagements Catherine studies hard. Much of her knowledge around her specialised subjects comes from reading and understanding the issues.

"Late night studies rather than watching TV and private chats with those in the know contribute to her official engagements and are the key to her work.

"William is secure, well-briefed and sincere in his new role. His father King Charles appears to have finally found his place after all the years of waiting.

"The Queen was confident in her final years this would be the case. As always, she was right."
