Most parents spend a lot of time ensuring they pick the perfect name for their newborns when they arrive.
For the Prince and Princess of Wales, not only did they have to pick a well fitting name for their firstborn son but also one for a future King.
Kate and William welcomed their eldest son Prince George into the world almost 10 years ago and royal fans waited in anticipation to learn what the couple decided to call him.
However, like many new parents, it seems they struggled at first to find the perfect name for their little boy, the Mirror reports.
To solve their problem, they came up with an unconventional solution thanks to the help of their beloved pet dog at the time, Lupo.
According to the Times, the couple reportedly wrote out all their name choices on scraps of paper and put them on the floor to let the English cocker spaniel decide.
The dog walked over to the piece of paper that said George on it and the heir to the throne was subsequently named.
William and Kate first got Lupo in 2012 and he appeared in many of the family's official photos before he sadly passed away.
After saying their goodbyes to their beloved pet, the Prince and Princess welcomed a new cocker spaniel puppy into their lives. which they adopted from Kate's brother, James.
Their new furry friend, Orla, has been growing up alongside their three kids George, Charlotte and Louis.
