Kate Middleton's touching words to Princess Charlotte about Prince George

The first day of school is a scary experience for children and an emotional time for parents, even if you're in the royal family.

Thankfully for Princess Charlotte, she had the support of not only her mum but her older brother as she made the transition from Willcocks Nursery in Kensington to Thomas's Battersea in London.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, had some encouraging words for her daughter Charlotte after she dropped her and her brother Prince George off for their first day at school in 2019.

Kate looked delighted to be there for the big occasion after she was forced to miss George's first day in 2017, as she was ill with Hyperemesis Gravidarum while expecting Prince Louis.

Prince William and Kate looked as proud as ever arrived as they arrived at Thomas's with George and Charlotte, who was seen nervously clutching to her mum's leg in photos.

The family were greeted by the head of the lower school Helen Haslem, where Prince William told her how excited his daughter was about her first day at school.

Despite shyly hiding behind her mum, she shook hands with the headteacher.

But before she headed off through the school doors, Kate whispered some words of encouragement to her daughter Charlotte to put her at ease.

In a video showing the family arriving for the special day, Kate, who was holding Charlotte's hand, can be heard saying: "George will have to show you the way."

Being two years older than his sister, George is certainly an outstanding resource for Charlotte as he's able to brief her on the ins and outs of things at school.

According to a royal expert, George is very protective of his sister and will definitely show her the ropes.

Royal biographer Penny Junor told Hello magazine: "Prince George is a very protective and lovely older brother.

"I'm sure he'll look after his little sister and take great pride in showing her the ropes."
