When his father Prince Charles becomes King, Prince William looks set to inherit his Prince of Wales title.
And reports suggest William is planning to reinvent the role of the Prince of Wales - with his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, playing a key role in the future.
Palace aides are said to be describing the strategy as 'the Cambridge way' and sources suggest the couple have been doing a lot of thinking about how long-held protocols can be modernised - especially in the aftermath of their Caribbean tour.
A source close to William told the Mail on Sunday : "This approach isn't a criticism of what has come before but just an acknowledgement of a desire for change.
"It's about hope and optimism for the future. What is driving the Duke and Duchess in everything they do is urgency plus optimism equals action.
This new strategy will reportedly harness Kate's popularity - and will seemingly see her royal role change in the future...
New title
One of the biggest changes Kate will see in the future is a change in her title.

When William becomes the heir to the throne and probably takes on the Prince of Wales title, Kate will automatically become the Princess of Wales.
The last person to hold this title was, of course, William's late mother Princess Diana. Charles's second wife, Camilla, decided against using the title out of respect for Diana.
And according to a source, if and when this is to happen, it would be an emotional moment for William.
They previously told the Telegraph : "I’m sure it’ll be a bit of a bittersweet moment.
"This is her son and his wife, so in some ways, it will be coming full circle—but it will also be a poignant reminder of what we all lost."
Solo overseas tours
Another way that Kate's royal role will reportedly change is that she may be seen on more overseas tours abroad - but without William.
It comes as she is enjoying increasing popularity and is becoming a lot more assured as a royal.
Just recently she embarked on a rare solo overseas trip when she spent two days in Denmark in February, which was deemed a great success.
During this trip, she focused on engagements relating to her work in early years development - and also made time to have an audience with Queen Margrethe of Denmark.
And who can forget the great pictures of Kate throwing herself down a huge slide during a visit to the Lego Foundation Play Lab?
Core causes
Another way they are said to be planning to shake up the monarchy is by having far fewer staff.
According to the Sun, William and Kate will have just half the estimated 137 staff that currently work for his father Charles to "create a more cost-effective and less formal team".
And with less staff, this means that Kate will reportedly focus on fewer causes rather than spread themselves too thinly.
These causes may only total five or six but would be "comfortable and credible".
A source also told the Mail on Sunday: "Many of the causes adopted by the Duke and Duchess, whether it's Earthshot [the annual prize awarded by the Royal Foundation for contributions to environmentalism] or the early years work, also touches on every other aspect of society so it's not that they're excluding other good causes by having a focus."
More meet and greets
Moving forward, it's been reported that both Kate and William will reduce the number of stage-managed events that they take part in.
And it seems instead they will focus on more meet-and-greets so they can "get under the skin" of their causes.
It comes after The Sun reports that William aims to “rip up the rulebook” and ditch old-fashioned methods to show they are modern royals.
