Kate Middleton's romantic moment with Prince William during Scottish Coronation

The Prince and Princess of Wales seemed to share a romantic moment as they appeared alongside King Charles to support him at his Scottish Coronation yesterday.

William and Kate joined the monarch and Queen Camilla at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh where the King was presented with the Honours of Scotland which are Britain's oldest crown jewels during a service of thanksgiving and dedication.

Kate looked simply gorgeous in a Catherine Walker coat dress that she's been seen wearing several times including at Easter of this year and she completed her outfit with an intricate Philip Treacy hat and a lavish necklace from the late Queen's collection.

William sported his RAF No.1 Uniform with his Order of the Thistle mantle as they took part in the procession in and out of the cathedral.

The future King and Queen sat alongside Charles and Camilla as they enjoyed the rousing musical performances and readings, the Mirror reports.

A sweet moment snapped on camera during the service shows Kate placing a caring hand on William's back as they exchanged a few words and smiled at one another.

Meanwhile after the ceremony and during the RAF flypast over the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Kate could also be seen giving her husband a cheeky bum pat according to body language expert Judi James.

It comes as the couple were referred to by their new lesser known Scottish titles during the service which are the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.

William and Kate have more than one royal title with the pair inheriting a series of new ones following the King's accession to the throne last year, however many of them are not known very well.

The title Duke of Rothesay is always reserved for the heir to the throne along with multiple other Scottish Styles including Baron of Renfrew, Earl of Carrick, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.

This means the future King's wife Kate is also known as Baroness of Renfrew, Countess of Carrick, Baroness of Renfrew and Lady of the Isles.

However, William and Kate will mainly use Duke and Duchess of Rothesay as this title is higher in rank.

The service at the Cathedral featured centuries-old aspects of Scottish royal tradition along with new additions such as pieces of music written specially for the occasion, a psalm sung in Gaelic and the use of passages from the New Testament in Scots.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Rt Rev Sally Foster-Fulton, preached the sermon and then gave a blessing to conclude the service.

During the ceremony, the sceptre and the crown from the Honours of Scotland were presented to the King along with the Elizabeth Sword which was commissioned last year in honour of the late Queen.

This is a new sword specially crafted to be used in place of the current Sword of State, gifted to JAMES IV by Pope Julius in 1507, which can no longer be used due to its fragile condition.
