Kate Middleton's most recycled items - 10-year-old boots, Zara dress and sparkly gown

She may be one of the most photographed women on the planet and looked up to as a style icon.

But the Duchess of Cambridge has proved you don't need to buy a new outfit when attending fancy events.

Since becoming a royal more than 10 years ago, Kate has earned a reputation for recycling her pieces - often putting a new twist on them.

And it seems that in the past few months, she has recycled and re-worn many more of her older items - including a pair of boots that she's had in her wardrobe for well over 10 years.

Here we look back at some of her most recycled pieces, especially ones that have caught the eye recently...

Trusted boots

Kate's most recent royal engagement was a day trip to Wales alongside her husband Prince William.

For most of the visit, she wore a pair of black Aquatalia Rouge boots teamed with skinny black jeans and a beautiful Sportmax coat.

At it appears the £295 boots have been a long-fixture in Kate's wardrobe - and they got their first royal outing 11 years ago.

Kate sported the boots for her first official royal engagment in 2011 when she christened a new lifeboat in Anglesey.

Not only does Kate seem to recycle her designer pieces - she also appears to do the same with her High Street clothes.

Last October she wore a bargain £16 grey houndstooth dress from Zara while on a visit to the University College London's (UCL) Centre for Longitudinal Studies.

She'd previously worn the garment, which comes complete with a pussy bow neck, on a trip to Bradford in 2020, and teamed it with a pair of grey Hugo Boss heels.

Military-style blouse

Another long-fixture in Kate's wardrobe is a stunning military-inspired blouse by one of her favourite designers Alexander McQueen.

She recently wore the top, which comes with gold detailing, in November while visiting London's Imperial War Museum.

But it got its first outing back in 2011 during a trip to Birmingham - although Kate teamed it with a skirt rather than trousers on this occasion.

Catherine Walker dress

Last month, Kate joined her father-in-law Prince Charles and his wife Camilla for a rare day out in East London.

On that day, Kate opted to wear a chic grey coat dress with a black collar and grey belt by Catherine Walker.

And it was the same dress she previously sported in 2019 during an engagement with the Queen at King's College, London.

But she's not just recycled it once - she also wore the same dress in 2020 at a service to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

Jenny Packham gown

It may be tempting for Kate to go shopping every time she gets invited to a black tie event.

But she clearly resisted temptation when she attended the Royal Variety Performance in November.

For it, she wore a glittering forest green Jenny Packham sequinned gown that she had worn before.

The first time she sported it was in 2019 during an official tour to Pakistan.
