Kate Middleton's heartfelt reply to little girl who invited Prince George to her sixth birthday party

Living life in the public eye surely has its pros and cons, but sweet fan mail surely has to be one of the ups of being a member of The Firm. Now a family-of-five, the Cambridges often receive heartwarming letters from supporters, offering them their unwavering support and thanking them for their service and charity work.

With the family often inundated with messages and letters, they are usually unable to reply to every note sent to them, but the Duchess of Cambridge decided to reply to one little girl who sent a thoughtful invitation to Prince George. The mum of the six-year-old shared a photograph of the Duke and Duchess' response to her daughter on Twitter, The Express reports.

The young girl had invited Prince George to her sixth birthday a few months prior to the response from the Royal Family turning up in the post. Although his RSVP came very late, the young girl was still left delighted by the note, as was her mum, who posted a photograph with the caption: "Something amazing for her to keep."

The letter read: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked me to thank you for your letter, in which you invite Prince George to your 6th Birthday party. I am sorry that it took so long to reply.

"Their Royal Highnesses were extremely grateful for your kind invitation. Having given careful consideration to the possibilities, however, I very much regret that Their Royal Highnesses reluctantly feel they have to decline."

The letter continued: "Nevertheless, I hope that you enjoyed your birthday. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were immensely touched that you should take the trouble to write as you did to their son, Prince George.

"It really was most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses have asked me to send you their warmest thanks and best wishes."

Prince George also celebrated a birthday recently. The eldest child of William and Kate turned nine on July 22, and is said to have celebrated the occasion with a private party, organised by his maternal grandparents, Carole and Michael Middleton, who own a partyware business.

The Cambridges also spent two weeks in the Isles of Scilly on the island of Tresco for Prince George's birthday, which is owned by the Prince of Wales. His official birthday portrait was snapped by the Duchess of Cambridge on a beach on the island.
