Kate Middleton's Coronation countdown - outfit chaos, tiara drama and kids' lessons

The Coronation is just days away and while all eyes will be on the newly crowned King Charles and Queen Camilla, fans of the royals will be eager to see the Princess of Wales.

Kate, alongside Prince William, are likely to play a big part in the Coronation proceedings as the future British monarchs. The Princess will be preparing the finishing touches for the big day, including what is likely to be a dazzling outfit, with stunning jewellery from the royal collection to match.

The mother-of-three does not have an official role in the ceremony, but will be taking part in the procession back to Buckingham Palace from Westminster Abbey alongside her family. The Mirror reports that as well as getting herself organised for the big day, Kate will also be ensuring Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are prepared too.

Let's take a look at Kate's Coronation planning, including special lessons for her children and tiara drama..

Outfit rush

Known for her stunning royal fashion, Kate will be dressed to the nines for the momentous occasion as fans will be eager to see her outfit.

Kate may not have an official role during the ceremony, but eyes will certainly be on her at Westminster Abbey as well as the procession and on the Buckingham Palace balcony. Details about Kate's outfit have been kept under wraps, but reports emerged that royals were rushing to ensure their garments were ready in time.

It's thought that the Princess of Wales will wear an outfit by one of her go-to designers, which include Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham.

According to a royal insider, there was a delay in deciding on the exact dress code which meant Kate and other senior royals had to rush to finalise their outfit plans. The source told the Mirror two weeks ago: "Senior female royals were only informed of outfits this week prompting a rush to finalise fitting arrangements."

Tiara drama

The clothing isn't the only thing to have caused behind the scenes drama, as the tiaras have reportedly caused a stir as well. One source claimed that indecision between the households had also led to rows over what tiaras the female royals should wear.

It was also speculated that Kate could ditch the tiaras altogether and opt for a more relaxed look on the day. While senior royals usually wear tiaras at formal state events, Kate may be opting for a floral arrangement in her hair instead, reports The Times.

However, royal author Hugo Vickers said: "Considering that a Coronation is the most important state occasion in a reign it would be disappointing to do less than at a state banquet but I guess they want the entire focus on the King and Queen."

Children's coronation lessons

While Kate and William have a lot to organise for themselves ahead of the Coronation, the couple have also been giving their children lessons before the event.

George, Charlotte and Louis are expected to make an appearance during the Coronation celebrations, as the future king George is tasked with the prestigious role of being a page of honour for Charles. Kate and William were reportedly unsure about allowing George to have a formal role in the ceremony, but decided to allow it after the youngster showed interest.

According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, Kate will be teaching him as well as his siblings about the Coronation in preparation for the big day.

She told the Mirror: "Over the Easter holidays Catherine will have been teaching not just George, but all three of the children a simplified version of what they will be witnessing on the day.

"By making it fun and by re-enacting parts of what their grandfather will be doing both she and William hope George won’t be too daunted by his responsibilities. William and Catherine have been advised to use the virtual online tour of the Abbey as a guide for George.

She added: "If he can visualise where he is supposed to go and what to do, it will reduce any nerves he might feel being the youngest page. The other three boys are 13 and 12 respectively."

Busy engagements

Despite preparing for the big day, Kate has kept herself busy with a slew of royal duties in the lead up to the Coronation.

Last week, she visited a baby bank in Windsor, where she helped staff sort through the donations and folded baby clothes. The Prince and Princess of Wales also visited Wales ahead of the Coronation during a two-day visit where they took part in a slew of action packed activities.

They joined up with the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team where they were seen abseiling and took part in a mock rescue with the group, before relaxing with the team at their local rugby club.

The next day, they paid an emotional visit to the Aberfan Memorial Garden to pay their respects to the 116 children and 28 adults killed when a waste tip slid down a mountain into the Aberfan in 1966.

Birthday celebrations

Kate has also been busy celebrating Princess Charlotte's eighth birthday which took place just days before the Coronation. She was spotted enjoying a day out with her daughter along with some friends over the weekend for an early birthday treat.

They were spotted at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden enjoying a performance of Cinderella by the Royal Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada. One fellow audience member took to Twitter to say that she spotted Kate, Charlotte and the other youngsters at the venue enjoying the "wonderful ballet".

Meanwhile, a video was also shared on social media showing Charlotte taking to the stage with the dancers after the performance to pose for a special picture.

The youngster appears to be joined with several other girls her age in a purple dress with her hair in a ballerina bun with them waving wands before they try to catch glitter as it falls to the stage.

It has long been known that Charlotte has been a fan of ballet, with Kate once revealing back in 2017 how her daughter "absolutely loves" the form of dance.
