Kate Middleton may have sent hidden message with outfit amid Prince Harry drama

From her clothes to her accessories, the Princess of Wales is often credited with sending subtle messages and touching nods to others with what she wears.

And it's now thought that one piece of jewellery that she was recently sported wearing could have been her way of making a subtle statement on the drama surrounding her brother-in-law Prince Harry.

During her last public engagement, Kate hosted a reception for England's World Cup-winning wheelchair rugby league team at Hampton Court Palace, where she looked chic in a burgundy suit by Roland Mouret.

She paired it with gold hoop earrings and a long gold and citrine necklace from the brand Daniella Draper.

The delicate necklace is on sale for £825 and it is made using 100 per cent recycled solid nine-carat yellow gold and set with a beautiful citrine.

And according to a jeweller, the choice of citrine is notable as it is said to be the perfect stone for "realigning energies" after stress.

Maxwell Stone, the creative director at jeweller Steven Stone, said: "Citrine is a quartz variation that comes in hues ranging from yellow to brown, making it a symbolic choice by the Princess as the colour yellow has long been associated with positivity and optimism.

"Adding to the symbolic nature of the piece, citrine is said to assist in manifesting your biggest dreams, bringing in more success and prosperity.

"Citrine is also said to be the perfect ally for realigning your energies back into balance after a period of stress, so it's possible the necklace is a nod to the stress that the royal family have evidently been under due to the recent release of Prince Harry’s memoir."

The reception where Kate wore the necklace last week came just days after the release of Harry's controversial memoir Spare.

In the book, Harry paints his sister-in-law as uptight and unwelcoming to his wife Meghan Markle when she joined the royal fold - and sources have revealed Kate was left "baffled" by Harry’s personal attacks.

However, they added that she has “already moved on” from the memoir saga, as she prepares to launch a major campaign to change the future for generations of children.

At the end of the month, the mum-of-three will announce a new revolutionary "three to five-year programme” aimed at impacting the vital first five years of every child’s life.

For the last nine years, Kate has spent time looking into how experiences in early childhood are often the root cause of today’s hardest social challenges.

A royal source said: "Of course, there have been other distractions but the Princess has had far more important things on her mind. It’s an important and exciting time.

"The campaign she has been working on really is the result of several months behind the scenes (and) will launch a new three to five-year programme.

"(Kate) spends a lot of time reading, meeting and speaking with professionals across the entire field - but this isn't just one project, it’s an opportunity to make generational change for all our children."
