Princess of Wales Kate Middleton has shared some great news this morning — she is officially in remission from cancer. Kate posted on social media and expressed her relief and gratitude stating, “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery”.
It is the first time Kate has publicly used the term “remission” — no small feat.
Kate also posted a video of her visiting the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she received treatment. Kate thanked the staff for their exceptional care. “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” she wrote on the post.
“The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”
Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, following planned abdominal surgery. Reflecting on her experience, she said, “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.”
She also expressed her eagerness for the future: “I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to.”
During her visit, Kate met with patients and shared insights from her own treatment. “It’s really tough; it’s such a shock,” she said.
“You think treatment’s finished, crack on with that… daily tasks, but that’s still like a real challenge.”
As she reflected on her personal journey, Kate emphasised the importance of self-care during recovery. “I really felt like I needed to get the sun. You need loads of water and loads of sunlight,” she shared.
“It’s important to keep doing the things that give you joy.”
Kate also announced her new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden. “In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.”
In closing her message, Kate expressed gratitude for the support she has received throughout her journey: “There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
Happy for you Kate!!
