Kate Middleton has alerted jewellery experts by wearing a necklace for a royal engagement which they claim carried a 'hidden meaning,' amid the furore her brother-in-law Prince Harry has caused with his explosive memoir.
Kate, Princess of Wales, was kept busy last week by hosting a reception at at Hampton Court for England’s Wheelchair Rugby League team, to celebrate their November victory against France in the World Cup. Her appearance came less than a fortnight after the release of Harry's book Spare and broadcast of his much hyped ITV interview and the various bombshells thrown up in them, including claims of an altercation between Harry and Kate's husband Prince William, during a row over Meghan Markle.
The worldwide attention for Spare came hot on the heels of Harry and Meghan's Netflix series, which saw Meghan paint Kate as 'cold' after their first meeting, saying: "When Will and Kate came over, and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner, I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot. I was a hugger. I've always been a hugger, I didn't realise that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits."

Kate was a picture of elegance as she stepped out for the rugby event, wearing a a custom-made burgundy suit from French designer Roland Mouret that she previously wore for her and Prince William’s visit to Boston towards the end of last year. But it was her necklace that really caught the eye, with the item - identified as a £825 Gold Citrine Baby Treasure Necklace by Daniella Draper, said to have had a hidden meaning.
Maxwell Stone, creative director at UK retailer Seven Stone, commented: "Citrine is a quartz variation that comes in hues ranging from yellow to brown, making it a symbolic choice by the Princess as the colour yellow has long been associated with positivity and optimism. Adding to the symbolic nature of the piece, citrine is said to assist in manifesting your biggest dreams, bringing in more success and prosperity."
He added: "Citrine is also said to be the perfect ally for realigning your energies back into balance after a period of stress, so it’s possible that the necklace is a nod to the stress that the royal family have evidently been under due to the recent release of Prince Harry’s memoir."
