The Prince and Princess of Wales never waste an opportunity to take each other on in sporting challenges while out and about on engagements.
But it seems they also like to get "fiercely competitive" during their down time too - and have reportedly taken up a new sporty hobby.
It is claimed the couple are hooked on padel tennis, one of the world's fastest-growing sports, and have been spotted playing with pals on courts near their Windsor home.
Padel tennis is a cross between traditional tennis and squash, played on a small court, using a solid padel rather than a racquet made of strings.
According to The Sun, the couple have been seen having regular doubles matches with friends - although William and Kate are on opposing teams.
A witness who saw them enjoying a game told the publication: "I had to look twice as it seemed surreal but they were having a great time.
"William was on one team with a male friend and Kate was on the other team with a male friend and there was lots of banter and a lot of laughing but both sides fought every point.
"They looked good at it and did not come across as beginners."
Sporty Kate is known to be a fan of tennis and is a regular at Wimbledon thanks to her role as a patron of the All England Club.
In 2021, she even took on British Grand Slam champion Emma Raducanu on a visit to the Lawn Tennis Association, where she showed off her skills.
The two women teamed up for a doubles game before going head-to-head against each other - where it was even remarked that it was "getting competitive".
Kate was dressed for the occasion in a navy tennis skirt and tracksuit top and also brought her racket along with her.
Meanwhile earlier this year on a trip to Wales, Kate ran rings around William in a spin class - despite sporting high heels and a skirt.
While visiting the Aberavon Leisure and Fitness Centre in Port Talbot, they heard about how sport and exercise can support mental health and wellbeing.
As part of the visit, the competitive couple took part in a spin class with other participants - and were then told they would be going up against each other in a 45-second race - despite not wearing sports gear and Kate even wearing a £20 Zara skirt and four-inch Gianvito Rossi boots.
After the race, the Princess clapped, assuming it would be her husband who won, and looked shocked when she was handed the trophy shooting William a mischievously triumphant glance.
