Kate Middleton could lose Duchess of Cambridge title soon in Royal Family changes

Kate Middleton could lose her Duchess of Cambridge title in the near future as the Royal Family prepares for big changes. Kate has been referred to as the Duchess of Cambridge since she married Prince William in 2011, reports Birmingham Live.

The couple married in April that year, and share three children together: Prince George, their eldest, now aged eight, as well as Princess Charlotte and their youngest, Prince Louis. But Kate is poised to gain two roles with William, Duke of Cambridge, second in line to the throne.

When Prince Charles ascends the throne, he will lose his Prince of Wales title. And when this happens, the Duke of Cambridge - Kate's husband - will step into that coveted role.

Kate will then change from the Duchess of Cambridge to the Princess of Wales. Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, turned that role down when she married Charles out of respect for Princess Diana.

Camilla will become Queen Consort when Charles becomes King. However, when William becomes King, Kate will very probably be referred to as Queen Catherine - Catherine being her full name.

The reports come as the Queen celebrates 70 years on the throne this weekend with the Platinum Jubilee. The Cambridges, along with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, headed to Cardiff Castle in Wales for various performances honoring Queen Elizabeth.

There have been rumors of some tension between Prince Harry and Prince William and many royal commentators were quick to point out that the brothers weren't seated with one another during an event on Friday at St. Paul's Cathedral.
