Kate Middleton breaks silence on whether she hopes to have another child

Kate Middleton ruled out a fourth child during a surprise visit to a baby bank in Maidenhead. The Duchess, who helped fold baby clothes alongside volunteers and the charity’s CEO, claims to not want any more children saying: “I’ve been there and done that.”

The Princess of Wales, who has been a massive supporter of baby banks, surprised staff at the centre with a visit where she was shown all the work that goes into ensuring families have what they need. During her trip, she was shown the different piles of donations, from clothes and toys to vital bits of equipment babies require.

Stopping to help volunteers fold clothes Kate claimed to have forgotten how small babies can be while reminiscing on her three, who are now aged 5, 8 and 9 (nearly 10), when they were younger. She said: “It only feels like yesterday they were this tiny. They do grow quickly.”

As part of her tour, Kate was taken upstairs, home to the huge piles of donated clothes which needed to be sorted through. While much of what is donated is of good quality, some items donated to the bank aren’t suitable for others to reuse so it’s the volunteers’ job to go through all the piles to see what can and can’t be used. The Duchess said: “This must be one of the more time consuming elements.”

Throughout the visit, Princess Catherine asked the joint CEOs, Rebecca and Lauren Hall, many questions about the bank from its set up and how it runs to what is desperately needed.

One thing that surprised Kate was the huge rise in demand which unfortunately is currently not matched with the donations they are receiving. Rebecca talked about how they don’t want those who use the bank to feel like they were relying on ‘random handouts’, so try to match donations to each individual child.

Kate asked: “What items are hard to come by?”

Lauren replied: “Nappies, buggies and bigger items such as single beds. There is community support out there but it’s knowing where to get that support.”
