Kate Middleton at Wimbledon: a look back at the Duchess of Cambridge’s SW19 style through the years

A regular court side attendee, the Duchess of Cambridge is a loyal Wimbledon enthusiast.

But while her support for Andy Murray over the last few years has been unwavering, her choice of outfit has been somewhat less predictable than it once was.

In her earlier days at the tennis tournament, the Duchess - who at this point was Prince William's girlfriend - regularly opted for traditional Wimbledon whites, before transitioning to a bolder end of the colour spectrum in more recent years.

Arriving on Centre Court in 2008, Kate stepped out in a simple white tea dress and black cardigan. Sporting what would now be entirely unusual for the Duchess, her hair was worn natural and loose with barely a hint of excessive styling.

Forgoing the competition for a couple of years - with the small matter of a Royal engagement and subsequent wedding to organise - the Duchess made her next appearance at the tournament in 2011, where she again stepped out in the chalky hue.

This time looking to Temperley London, Kate's dress featured a constant pleat and frilled peplum detail, while her hair was perfectly blow-dried into a loose curl.

In 2012 the Duchess plumped for a nautical navy and white cable knit dress by Alexander McQueen, followed by a smart cream Joseph two-piece suit later that week.

2014 saw Kate mark her first foray into the world of colour at Wimbledon, following a white lace Zimmermann number with a vivid green and blue belted dress by Jonathan Saunders.

Having dipped her toe into the world of bright hues, the Duchess couldn't resist making another bold entrance, and took her Centre Court seat in 2015 wearing a scarlet piece by LK Bennett.

A year later saw Kate embark on her most striking tennis dress so far, as she took to the tournament in a conspicuous yellow Roksanda knee-length dress with a white trim before toning it down slightly later that week in a cream McQueen dress with blue and orange detailing.

In recent years Kate has favoured a classic polka-dot print, wearing a lively monochrome number by Dolce & Gabbana in 2017 before opting for a more feminine ruched Jenny Packham design to sit centre court with her new sister-in-law, Meghan Markle.
