After Prince George and Princess Charlotte finished school for the summer last month, the Cambridges have been enjoying plenty of fun activities and trips as a family-of-five. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decided to take their three children down to the Isles of Scilly a few weeks ago, and celebrated George's ninth birthday on the island of Tresco, which is owned by the Prince of Wales, during their two-week stay.
Ahead of their big move to Windsor, the Cambridges have also escaped the Big Smoke to spend some time at Anmer Hall, a stately home that sits on the Queen's Sandringham Estate, and was gifted to Kate and William by Her Majesty as a wedding present. The Cambridges lived at Anmer Hall before moving to Kensington Palace.
But there is one last escape on the cards for the family as the summer holidays draw to a close. The Telegraph's royal correspondent Victoria Ward has claimed that Kate, William, George, Charlotte, and Louis will be spending some time at Balmoral, the Queen's Scottish holiday home, before they move to Adelaide Cottage.

In an article for The Telegraph, Victoria wrote: "Since schools broke up in July, the Cambridges have enjoyed a UK-based holiday and have been spending time at their Anmer Hall in Norfolk. In the coming weeks, they will travel to Scotland for their annual summer break with the Queen at Balmoral before returning to settle into Adelaide Cottage ahead of the new school term."
Balmoral is situated in Aberdeenshire, in the Scottish Highlands, and is believed to be one of Her Majesty's favourite residences. The monarch travelled there earlier this summer and is currently enjoying a ten-week stay in the rugged Scottish countryside.
Not only are the Cambridges set to holiday with the Queen, but Her Majesty is said to be a huge driving force behind their decision to move to Windsor. William is believed to speak with his grandmother, who made Windsor Castle her main residence at the start of the pandemic, several times a week over the phone, and the pair have wanted to be closer to each other since the death of the Duke of Edinburgh in 2021.
An insider told the Daily Mail: "It's one of the things that has hastened their move to Berkshire this summer. Losing the Duke of Edinburgh has a left a big hole in all their lives. He was a great counsel to William and he feels very protective of his grandmother."
They added that Prince William: 'is always checking in with (the Queen) to make sure she understands why things are happening in a certain way'. Her Majesty, who is 96 years old, has been delegating more and more royal duties to her son Prince Charles as well as Prince William, such as when the pair presided over the State Opening of Parliament in her place a few months ago.
The Cambridges are hoping to move into Adelaide Cottage this summer and expect their children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, to start school nearby in September. They also intend to have no live-in staff and will reportedly keep their options open with Kensington Palace remaining ready for them in London as well as keeping the keys to their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.
