Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared a touching new picture of their family as a heartfelt thank-you to a fan.
The unexpected gift from Kensington Palace, which was accompanied by a personalised message, came in reply to a festive card sent by an avid royal follower.
In the photograph, the Prince and Princess of Wales can be seen with children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis walking outside the church at Sandringham for the Christmas Day service.
Taking to social media to share their correspondence with the world, an account named Duchess of Wonderland showed off the photo and dubbed it a "lovely surprise".
The royal message read: "Thank you for your thoughtful Christmas message to The Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
"Their Royal Highnesses are very grateful and send you their best wishes for a very Happy New Year."
The royal fan was lucky enough earlier this year to receive a reply from another member of the Royal Family, as they wrote in January: "Received the most loveliest of surprises today, a personalised thank you card for my Christmas wishes from the Queen Consort."
The card showed a smiling Camilla sat in a summery garden with tea and a bowl of peaches.
At the end of last year, nearly all of the Royal Family descended on Sandringham to celebrate Christmas in keeping with a long-established festive tradition.
King Charles led his family in the walk from their Sandringham Estate for the annual service at St Mary Magdalene church, accompanied by senior members of The Firm.
Before a carol concert at Westminster Abbey several days earlier, Kate spoke of how it was a moving time for the family, as it was their first Christmas since the death of the late Queen.
She said: "Her Majesty leaves with us an incredible legacy and one that has deeply inspired many of us.”
Next weekend will mark another emotional milestone for the Royal Family as Charles' first Easter weekend as King.
The royals are expected to spend the weekend at Windsor as they have done in previous years, before attending the Easter Sunday service at St George's Chapel.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not expected to join the celebrations.
