Kate Hudson's statement powder room wallpaper is (almost) as stylish as the actress herself

Kate Hudson

We have never been shy of professing our admiration for Kate Hudson's Los Angeles home – but her powder room (of all places) has just become our favorite space of all.

Despite rich competition from the actresses' cool Californian kitchen and ingenious open shelving, the luxe gold powder room has just about stolen the crown – because who can resist gold wallpaper as intricate as this? Certainly not us nor color and trend experts.

Pictured below, Kate shows off her wallpapered powder room, which she is 'in love' with, and we're inclined to agree. The print in question is Chintz (in the Honey colorway), designed by wallpaper powerhouse Arte International, and it's in stock right now.

Hailing from Arte's Essentials Les Tricots collection, Kate's wallpaper 'takes its inspiration from the haute couture fashion world with a clear nod to rich fabrics and specific textile techniques.' According to Arte, the statement pattern creates the illusion of a 'real textile' due to the 'combination of unique printing techniques and the use of velvety soft yarns.'

‘It is wonderful to see the ‘Chintz’ wallcovering looking so striking in Kate Hudson’s powder room,' adds Philippe Desart, the managing director of Arte. 'This design is available in 5 colorways and is a colorful fil-à-fil wallcovering with exuberant chalk lines, which create the illusion of real textile thanks to a combination of unique printing methods.'

Arte explains that, alongside its ability to inject texture, the paper is a powerful way of incorporating color in a space. In this case, gold reigns supreme. 'The pattern with a chintz look is an outsider that stands out for its shine and playful chalk lines in an explosive color palette,' they say.

Kate emphasizes this textured look further by illuminating a corner of the room with a circular glass light – the bottom of which pairs well with the primarily golden tones seen in the paper.

This 'honey' colorway really stands out for its shine and touch of playfulness, a brilliant wallcovering to wrap around the room to evoke an effortless glamourous finish,' Philippe says.

Arte's chintz-style print is no stranger to wallpaper trends, but pattern aside, experts also love Kate's bold color choice. Royal-standard paint manufacturers Mylands recently announced that gold was their best-selling paint of 2023 (so far) – adding that they have seen a rise in demand for metallic hues that will bring a 'sophisticated shine' into their consumer's homes.

Designer Molly McGinness adds that gold spaces (much like Kate's) ooze luxury – and you can emphasize it further with the right accessories.

'If you are looking to hype up the luxe, you could include lighting with crystals, either a chandelier or sconces at the vanity with crystals dripping down,' Molly says.

'Mounting the sconces onto a mirrored wall is also an easy move to increase the reflective qualities of the crystals and light. Plus, designing a custom vanity paneled in eglomise glass would really amp up the sumptuous finishes.'

We're taking our lead from Kate Hudson – it's time we all go for gold...
