Kate Hudson may have just started a cabinet color trend – and we can't wait to bring this hue into our kitchen

Kate Hudson and green kitchen cabinets

Kate Hudson has a habit of reviving bygone trends with a contemporary flair – and her kitchen cabinets are the most recent example of this.

The actress purchased her old Pacific Palisades home, where she lived as a child with her mother (and Hollywood counterpart) Goldie Hawn in the '80s. Since buying the property, Kate has experimented with a host of vintage design quirks – most famously in her chintz-covered bedroom and power room – but her trip back in time didn't stop there.

Recently, Kate shared a look inside her kitchen, where she often makes smoothies – as per the post (celebrating National Smoothie Month, below). It was in her backdrop, however, where we spotted her kitchen cabinet color: a dusty, powder green tone that has revived yet another bygone trend.

We may have already composed a love letter about Kate Hudson's kitchen in the past, but alongside her statement tiles, Kate's 'favorite room in her house' has launched a new kitchen cabinet color trend that, designers say, finds a balance between the past and present.

If anyone can do it, it's Kate.

'The resurgence of mint green may be a call back to vintage styles, echoing the charm of a 1950s kitchen,' comments New York-based designer Artem Kropovinsky. 'The color invites an element of nostalgia without sacrificing modern sophistication, striking a balance between past and present.'

Alongside its subtle nod to the past, Artem explains that this kitchen color has therapeutic benefits, too. 'The inclusion of powder or mint green cabinetry in our kitchen spaces is akin to inviting in a fresh breeze, embodying tranquility, peace, and an implicit connection to nature,' he says.

'The significance lies not merely in the hue itself but in the feelings and ambiance it inspires.'

Kate keeps the rest of her kitchen simple, with the exception of her statement tiled wall, of course. She has chosen a bright white paint that keeps ensures the room still feels contemporary despite paying homage to a vintage trend – and, unsurprisingly, Artem recommends doing the same with similar neutral hues. But what about the hardware?

'The combination of mint green and brass hardware is a match made in design heaven,' he says. 'Brass adds a touch of glamor and richness that perfectly balances the cool undertones' of the hue, he says.

'Retro-inspired appliances in bold colors or sleek stainless steel options also work beautifully with mint green. Choose based on the overall vibe of your kitchen – playful and eclectic, or refined and modern.'

We're buying our way into this kitchen with these Kate-inspired picks below.
