Kate Garraway has thanked fans as she revealed they found her husband Derek Draper’s lost medical supplies.
Derek, 54, is thought to be one of the UK’s worst affected patients from Covid after being admitted to hospital in March 2020. He is still in recovery and requires around-the-clock care and daily medication.
However, the broadcaster revealed a medicine kit was accidentally left in a taxi on Friday - and appealed for help to track it down.
The TV presenter wrote on social media: “Have just brought Derek home in a mobility black cab from hospital for a weekend visit.
“I have left a case with all his meds and kit in the front. The driver recognised me but may not know it’s there - please look and get in touch - need urgently!!”
Thanks to a fan, Derek’s vital medicines were returned to the couple after a follower who knew the cab driver contacted the TV presenter following her public plea.
The fan wrote: “I know the driver Kate as he mentioned he’d taken you and your husband to me this evening. I’m trying to get in touch right now.”
Sharing an update with fans, Garraway said: “It’s been returned! Thanks to all who reached out - the message got to driver lovely Robert who has returned it - phew and thanks to all.”
It comes after the Good Morning Britain host opened up about her and Derek’s life has changed.
In an interview with Good Housekeeping magazine, she said: “When you nearly lose someone, it certainly brings everything into sharp focus.
“In many ways, we’re still learning how we are as man and wife, as so much has changed.
“It’s the same for the children – they’re having to relearn the experience of being with their dad. And, of course, the biggest learning is for poor Derek.”
