Kate Garraway reveals This Morning star Alison Hammond was proposed to at the airport

Alison Hammond may have shot down reports that she is engaged to her boyfriend, however Kate Garraway has revealed she recently witnessed her get proposed to by someone else.

This Morning presenter Hammond, 48, is believed to be in a relationship with gardener Ben Hawkins, who she has been quietly dating for two years.

In February, rumours started going around that the pair were engaged with even Hawkins’ own dad appearing to confirm the news.

While Hammond insists this is not the case, her friend Garraway has now dished that there had been another potential contender for her hand.

Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on Disney Travel’s Journey To The Magic podcast, Good Morning Britain host Garraway, 55, explained: “I did a great trip recently with Alison Hammond. She is hilarious to travel with.

”She got a marriage proposal at the airport. We were only there for 15 minutes.

“I literally went to the loo, bought a cup of tea and came back and this guy had proposed. It was unbelievable.”

Shocked by the mystery man’s directmess, she continued: “I was just like ‘what the heck’. He just sat down and he proposed to her.

“It was extraordinary. She was just like ‘yeah’ and he proposed – really casual about it. I was like ‘this is big stuff’”.

Sadly it would appear that Hammond was simply humouring him as Garraway doesn’t believe she has seen him since, adding: “So it was a no.”
