Kate Garraway inundated with support as she makes Good Morning Britain return after father collapses

Kate Garraway made a welcome return to Good Morning Britain on Monday after taking some time out due to a family health emergency.

The popular TV presenter, 57, looked radiant in a yellow dress as she took her place behind the desk next to co-presenter Ed Balls for Monday’s edition of the breakfast show.

Fans were delighted to have Garraway back on their screens and Lorraine guest host Christine Lampard remarked how it was lovely to have her back.

She was absent for almost two weeks after her dad Gordon suffered a suspected stroke and heart attack just six months after her husband Derek Draper died.

Garraway wanted to be with him and rushed down to Cornwall to be by his side.

She had revealed last week that she intended to be back today after issuing a health update on her dad on social media.

Alongside an image of her and her dad smiling for the camera, she penned: "Hi all - sorry I disappeared from here when my Dad collapsed & rushed to hospital 2 weeks ago while having a holiday with my Mum at my brothers," her statement begins, posted alongside a photo of her with her dad.

"It was very scary but am so pleased that he is now stable & even recovering a bit in hospital - we have so much to be grateful for, but are taking it a day at a time."

The ITV star thanked "the incredible NHS staff for their endless kindness" and continued care towards her father.

She additionally thanked her friends and work colleagues for their support, mentioning by name her GMB co-stars Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins, plus Smooth FM presenter Myleene Klass.

"Luckily I also had some weeks leave booked so I have been able to support my Mum & Brother & be with my Dad while also giving Darcey & Billy some summer fun on their school holidays which of course they really need," she continued.

Garraway’s relieved GMB co-stars and followers were quick to respond to the post.

Charlotte Hawkins replied: "Thank goodness he’s on the road to recovery, what a shock for you all. Sending loads of love" with a heart emoji.

Susanna Reid penned: "Such a relief for your lovely Dad and your whole family. Loads of love to you all, always", one follower penned:

"So happy to hear all is well. Sending prayers and positive thoughts" wrote another followers, while a fourth added: "Glad he is on the mend lots of best wishes x we all miss you superwoman x."
