Kate Garraway gives health update on father after holiday collapse

Kate Garraway has given a health update on her father Gordon after he suffered a suspected stroke and heart attack just six months after her husband Derek Draper died.

The Good Morning Britain host, 57, has been absent from screens for almost two weeks after rushing down to Cornwall to be by his side upon learning her parent had collapsed.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the mum-of-two noted that it has been a “very scary” time for their family, but said her dad was now “stable and even recovering a bit in hospital”.

She added that they have “so much to be grateful for” and are “taking it a day at a time.”

Alongside an image of her and her dad smiling for the camera, she penned: "Hi all - sorry I disappeared from here when my Dad collapsed & rushed to hospital 2 weeks ago while having a holiday with my Mum at my brothers," her statement begins, posted alongside a photo of her with her dad.

"It was very scary but am so pleased that he is now stable & even recovering a bit in hospital - we have so much to be grateful for, but are taking it a day at a time."

The ITV star thanked "the incredible NHS staff for their endless kindness" and continued care towards her father. She additionally thanked her friends and work colleagues for their support, mentioning by name her GMB co-stars Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins, plus Smooth FM presenter Myleene Klass.

"Luckily I also had some weeks leave booked so I have been able to support my Mum & Brother & be with my Dad while also giving Darcey & Billy some summer fun on their school holidays which of course they really need," she continued.

Concluding her post, she confirmed a return date for Good Morning Britain and her Smooth FM radio show.

"Am hoping to be back on @gmb & @smoothradio on Monday (August 5) so can update more then but for now sending love to you all," she wrote, alongside several heart emojis and the hashtags #love #hope #friendshipday.
