Kate Garraway blasts 'pathetic' PM Liz Truss who may resign after just 43 days in power

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has blasted Liz Truss' 43-day period in power as 'pathetic' amid reports that the Prime Minister could resign as early as today.

It comes after Wednesday's chaos, where MPs had been warned a Labour vote about banning fracking would be a ‘confidence’ issue in the government - meaning it would collapse if Liz Truss lost.

However, as a revolt exploded minutes before the vote, a minister then announced it would not be a confidence issue after all.

This of course prompted immense chaos in the voting lobbies with MPs ‘effing and blinding', according to reports.

Following the latest controversy, Liz Truss's future as Prime Minister is more uncertain than ever after the day of disarray.

Discussing the government chaos on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, hosts Kate Garraway and Adil Ray found themselves in a heated conversation about the state of the nation under Truss' leadership.

"All eyes are on Westminster even if, to be honest, watching from home, you might feel a bit cross-eyed with what's going on," Kate said.

"As it stands now, there are very serious doubts about whether Liz Truss will still be in office this tea-time. Think about what we're saying there - a Prime Minister that was elected by her party only a matter of weeks ago - may not be in office by this evening.

"She's been in power for 43 days. It's all a mess. It's pathetic," Kate added.

It comes as the Prime Minister is attempting to punish MPs who defied her in the Commons last night.

Truss will try to wrestle back some control after scenes described as the most chaotic ever were seen in the Commons voting lobbies with some MP's claiming there was even 'shoving and pushing' involved.

Tory MP has said that Liz Truss must 'go today' and around 330 Tories had 'given up hope' in her ability to navigate her way out of the current political crisis.

Sir Charles Walker appeared furious as he gave an interview on Wednesday night amid farcical scenes in the Commons.

Walker said he had seen 'enough of talentless people' in a critique of his own party as he called for Liz Truss to step down as Prime Minister as soon as today.

The former vice-chairman of the 1922 Committee said he was 'livid' about recent turmoil and warned that unless the party starts to 'behave like grown-ups' then 'perhaps 200' MPs could find themselves out of jobs.

"It's chaos and most of my colleagues have had enough," he added.

"There may be thirty out there that still feel that somehow this shamble is recoverable. But about 330 of us have now given up all hope that the current PM can navigate her way out of this."
