Kate Garraway asks 'shall I just go?' as she suffers blunder live on Good Morning Britain

Kate Garraway was a little bit red-faced as she returned to Good Morning Britain. The broadcaster was back on the ITV news programme on Thursday (July 6) to bring viewers the latest news headlines while the show was hosted by Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard.

But Kate was left apologising as she disrupted the penultimate live broadcast of the week. Susanna and Ben were in the midst of debating whether the disruptive protest tactics of Just Stop Oil were effective following the scenes at the Wimbledon tennis tournament this week.

However, Kate's mobile phone momentarily halted the discussion. As the hosts chatted with environmentalist Daniel Hoope, known as Swapy, they were interrupted by a typical phone tune playing out with Susanna remarking in surprise: "Oh, we've got a musical soundtrack!"

It quickly became clear that Kate was the culprit as she scrambled around with her phone across the other side of the large GMB desk. Susanna quipped: "This is Kate Garraway's protest," while the flustered presenter replied:"'I'm so sorry, I don't know what happened there!"

With her head down looking at her mobile and desperately trying to silence it, she added: "Oh my God, it's happening again! it was on silent! It was on silent!"

They quickly turned their attention back away from Kate and managed to finish the segment at hand. However, Kate's blunder was mentioned again later in the show. As Susanna questioned if Kate had figured out what made her phone go off, Kate replied: "I think it was, well you know when they throw up memory videos of portraits?

"Well, it was of my goddaughter who you've both met, Tabby. She was coming up in a lovely selection which I couldn't turn down." Referring to an earlier debate on the show about whether you'd let your partner go through your mobile, Susanna joked: "Would you like me as your co-worker to go on your phone and go through your settings Kate?"

Kate began to say: "I would like..." before she was cut off by the sound effect of a mobile ringing. She then shouted at the crew: "What? It's not me, it's not me! They're gaslighting, they're gaslighting in here."

However, Ben then pointed out: "But gaslighting is when you haven't done something, right? Whereas you actually did," to which Kate responded: "Okay, I'm really, really sorry. Shall I just go? I'll do the news and then I'll go."
