Kate Ferdinand has opened up about the prospect of growing her blended family by welcoming another child with husband Rio.
The 30-year-old former Towie star is proud mum to one-year-old son Cree who she welcomed with 43-year-old husband Rio back in December 2020.
She is also doting step-mother to Rio’s other three children; sons Lorenz, 15, Tate, 13, and 11-year-old daughter Tia, who he welcomed with his late first wife, Rebecca Ellison, who lost her life to breast cancer aged 34 in 2015.
While Kate has her hands full being a full time parent to the four kids, she has said she wouldn’t run our adding another baby or two to the brood.
Opening up to OK! Magazine, the star said: “I mean I have four children, it’s quite hectic. I would never say never, but right now we are happy."
Kate says raising for children has been a rewarding challenge and that she is loving her new, busy life which is remarkably different to her upbringing as an only child with a single parent.
She told the publication: “I’m stronger than I thought I was. It takes a lot of patience, understanding and strength to raise four children. But I love it so much – I wouldn’t change it for anything."
She also explained how heartwarming it is that all four kids call her mum after she tied-the-know with Rio in a lavish ceremony in Turkey in September 2019.
Kate said: “Of course, we are one family and they call me ‘Mummy Kate’ now.
“We talk most evenings before bed and we all have a bit of a debrief about our day. I love the fact that we can get into big family debates about different topics.”
Both Rio and Kate have discussed their wedding day in the past, with the football legend previously saying: “I cried as soon as the day started. Seeing Tia walk up the aisle before Kate set me off. It was just so emotional.
"There was just no going back on the emotion, that’s why I had to keep my shades on!
"Seeing Tate and Lorenz walk Kate down the aisle was particularly poignant and we wouldn’t have wanted to do it any other way.
"They were so proud and they couldn’t wait to do that, they felt important."
While Kate has previously opened up about feeling like she needed to ‘earn’ the right to be called mum by Rio’s three older children.
She said in her Blended podcast during a chat with Ashley John-Baptiste, who featured in a documentary titled documentary Split Up in Care: Life Without Siblings: "After watching the documentary, I know that you met your mum when you were around 10-years-old.
"How did that feel, because the label 'mum' for me... you know, I'm a step-mum - I'm called Kate in our house - and I feel as though I had to earn my title of step-mum, and earn my title of even Kate, because I have to give love to be that person.”
Ashley replied: "That sounds like a lot of pressure. I can't imagine how you do that. In the same way you may look at me and think 'How did he go through the care system?' The resilience and commitment to do that [become a step-parent] , to earn that privilege - hats off to you."
"Thank you so much but listen, if I love my husband I want to be be part of everything," Kate responded.
