Kate Ferdinand and Rio get 'ditched' by their kids at Stormzy gig on family night out

Kate Ferdinand showed off her abs in a crop top with husband Rio Ferdinand as they cosied up at at Stormzy gig.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star, 30, shared the snap on Instagram, and told her followers she and the ex-England footballer were having an impromptu date night at the gig on Tuesday night at London’s O2 Arena.

In the picture, Kate can be seen flashing her impressive abs in a cropped brown top, which she teamed with a pair of matching trousers.

She’s perched on husband Rio’s knee, as the couple enjoy the concert from their VIP seats.

Kate joked she and Rio had taken the “big kids” to the gig, but had been ditched by the teenagers, who preferred to watch Stormzy away from their step-mum and dad.

“Night out to see Stormzy with the big kids … they’ve ditched us,” she wrote.

Kate became step-mum to Rio’s three kids - Lorenz, 15, Tate, 13, and 10-year-old Tia - when they wed in 2019, four years after his wife Rebecca tragically died following a battle with breast cancer.

The reality star, who welcomed son Cree with Rio in 2020, has previously spoken about her journey to becoming a step-parent, and admitted she was “naïve”.

“I thought I’d be fine. I didn’t really take into consideration the dynamics,” she said during a recent appearance on Loose Women.

“I’ve learned that I am very resilient and that to have a big heart can get you quite far in life,” Kate explained.

She also touched upon Mother’s Day, and revealed she was trying to “balance emotions” ahead of the special day, as her step-children are mourning the loss of their own mother.

“Mother's Day for most people is usually a day that we celebrate the women that shaped us. But unfortunately that is just not the case for everyone. For me personally Mother's Day is a day that I struggle with,” she said during the first episode of her Blended podcast.

“How can I have the audacity to celebrate myself when all my family have had such a deep loss. I felt really alone and quite isolated, I didn't know anyone in a similar situation or going through the same sort of thing as me,” she shared.
