Kate Ferdinand admits 'embarrassment' when she can't answer questions about step kids

Kate Ferdinand has admitted she feels guilty at not being able to answer questions about her three step kids.

The former TOWIE star, 30, is married to ex-England international Rio Ferdinand, 43, who is father to Lorenz, 15, Tate, 13, and Tia, 10.

Kate, who has a one-year-old son with Rio, has spoken openly about her struggles becoming a step mum and launched a platform called Blended to support families going through similar situations.

It was on Blended's Instagram page that she opened up about the pressure she was still feeling.

She wrote: "As a step parent, I often find myself in situations where questions are asked that I just can’t answer.

"It is normally something that happened before I was in the children’s lives. Have they had chicken pox? Did they have all their immunisations as a baby?

"Starting my journey as a childless step mum these are things that had never even crossed my mind.

"They hadn’t even came into my head as things I would need to know. Which in its self brings on more guilt as I could sometimes feel really embarrassed that I don’t know the things a parent should.

"It may sounds silly, as really it’s impossible to know every single detail when you have not parented a child from birth."

Kate added that she often puts so much pressure on herself about "knowing absolutely everything", but that she needs to realise "it's just not possible" and that she's "no less of a parent".

She also said that she was trying to be less hard on herself, but admitted it was a "work in progress".

Kate concluded: "I am a sensitive soul & sometimes that frustrates me but I believe that sensitivity it’s also my strength as it enables me to be the loving, caring person I am, who can see past blood & genetics & truly love without limitations x"

Kate's post was met with a lot of support from her fans with one replying: "That’s so well written Kate and really beautiful. You are doing amazingly and we are all learning every single day."

The former reality TV star was previously asked whether she loved her son Cree more than her stepchildren during an Instagram Q and A.

But Kate reassured the fan saying: "People ask me this a lot, and I can only speak for myself as everyone is different…

"I love all four children equally and I will never see any difference between my biological and non biological children."

"Lorenz, Tate, and Tia taught me what it feels like to love a child way before I had Cree.

"We worked so hard as a family to get to where we are now, and I take huge offence if anyone even suggests I would love Cree more than them."
