During the evening session of the swimming events at the Olympics, USA's Kate Douglass secured her first Olympic gold medal in the 200m breaststroke, adding to the country's medal tally. The race saw a thrilling competition between Douglass and South Africa's Tatjana Smith, with Douglass ultimately emerging victorious.
