Kate Bush song ‘Running Up That Hill’ breaks three Guinness World Records

Kate Bush has broken three records with her hit track ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),’ the Guinness Book of World Records has confirmed.

The 63-year-old British musician, who first released the song 37 years ago, has enjoyed newfound fame after her track was recently featured in Stranger Things season 4.

The Guinness Book of World Records has now revealed that Bush has been named: Oldest female artist to reach No.1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart, the Longest time for a track to reach No.1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart and the Longest gap between No.1s on the UK’s Official Singles Chart.

The song, which she penned herself, was first released as part of her 1985 album Hounds of Love. At the time it reached Number 3 in the charts.

The tune reached Number 1 earlier in June after it was featured in a scene in Stranger Things.

Reflecting on the incredible resurgence, Bush said at the time that she had been overwhelmed by the response.

“I’m overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving, and it’s all happening really fast, as if it’s being driven along by a kind of elemental force,” she said.

“I have to admit I feel really moved by it all. Thank you so very much for making the song a number one in such an unexpected way.”

Bush took the Guinness record title of ‘Oldest female artist to reach No.1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart’ from Cher.

However, the Believe songstress had nothing but praise for Bush being awarded the title, adding on Twitter: “Bravo Kate Records Are Meant 2 Be Broken.

Cher added: “Remember Back In The Day, When Women Had SHORT SELL BY DATES We Had 2 Fight Our Way Through The Testosterone Curtain,& We Did it So The Girls Who Came After Us Could Sing As Long As They Want To. With Mega Respect. Me”
