Kate Beckinsale shares update after concerning fans with teary hospital selfies

Kate Beckinsale has shared an update after sparking concern by posting tearful selfies in hospital online.

The actress, 50, has been under increasing strain in recent months, including grieving the death of her stepfather Roy Battersby in January after suffering “a massive stroke” while battling two forms of cancer She has also been caring for her mother Judy Loe, who has been experiencing significant health issues.

On Wednesday, the Serendipity star took to Instagram Stories to reveal she is still in hospital as she shared a picture in bed with her cat and wrote: “visitor”.

She has not disclosed the reason for her hospital stay. 

The Standard has contacted a representative for Kate Beckinsale for comment.

Beckinsale expressed her gratitude to her mum for her unwavering support in a joint Mother’s Day and birthday post shared earlier in the week.

The post included a video of Loe celebrating with champagne and tucking into cake alongside several selfies.

She also shared two pictures of herself in a hospital bed, wearing a black headband adorned with a bow.

In her caption, the Brit born A-lister wished her mother a happy birthday and Mother’s Day, before describing how Loe has supported her throughout the last week.

She penned: “Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s s*** and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t.

“And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us... And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”

After she noted that her “mother’s capacity for joy” was “so inspiring and beautiful,” she once again celebrated Loe in her caption.

She shared: “Happy everything mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you.”
