Kate Ferdinand has revealed that husband Rio’s oldest son Lorenz has moved out of the family home leaving her “devastated”.
The 16-year-old is looking to following in his footballer father’s footsteps after being signed to Brighton & Hove Albion under-18’s team as their goalkeeper.
Given that Kate and Rio live in Kent, it made more sense for the teen to move closer to his team than face a lengthy commute.
Speaking in the latest episode of her Blended podcast, Kate said: “I don’t know if anyone knows this. He doesn’t live at home at the moment. He’s living with another family.”
”Because he’s playing football,” Rio, who was a special guest, clarified
The couple admitted it was very emotional when he first moved out, but have been left feeling proud as the family he is staying with have been praising his manners.
Kate said: “I was devastated when he moved out. It’s a real big thing, I was emotional. I miss him so much. We still see him twice a week but it’s taken a lot of getting used to.”
Good manners aside, Lorenz has a lot to live up to if he hopes to make as big a name for himself as his dad, who enjoyed a career in which he played 81 times for the England national team between 1997 and 2011, and was a member of three FIFA World Cup squads.
As well as Lorenz, Rio has son Tate, 14, and daughter Tia, 11, from his marriage with his late wife Rebecca Ellison, who died from breast cancer in 2015 aged 35.
He also shares two-year-old son Cree with former TOWIE star Kate, who is currently pregnant with their second child together.
