Kate and Gerry McCann have spoken out after a Polish woman claiming to be their missing daughter received the results of a DNA test - proving she is not Madeline.
Julia Wendell made international headlines last month after saying she could be the youngster - who disappeared while on a family holiday in Portugal in 2007 - based on similarities in their appearance.
However, Dr Fia Johannson, who has been representing the Polish national, said the DNA sample she provided was not a match to Maddie.
After receiving the conclusive results, Julia has now decided to return to Poland to be with her dad, the Mirror reports.
Kate and Gerry have since shared a statement on their Find Maddie Facebook page after receiving a question on the platform.
A woman asked: "Is there any chance of giving us an update? There has been a lot of media about a girl claiming to be Maddie and DNA being done? Is it possible to let your followers know what is going on [...]?"
The woman continued: “Our thoughts and prayers are always with the McCann family and a safe return of their precious daughter.”
The couple's representatives responded last night, writing:“There isn’t anything to report at this time. If and when there is, it will come from The Metropolitan Police.”
Yesterday, Dr Fia released a statement on Julia's results, which reads: “She is absolutely 100% from Poland. She is a small percentage of Lithuanian and Russian.
"But the test results show she is Polish. Julia had all the birthmarks as Madeleine McCann, which I believe is God and the universe’s way of wanting us to get close to the man who sexually abused her, expose him and his possible ties to the McCann case.”
After Julia's Instagram account, @IAmMadeleineMcCann, went viral, Maddie's parents said they were "willing to look at all leads" and requested that the 21-year-old undergo a DNA test
A source close to the parents said: "The family are taking no chances, they are willing to look at all leads. It is important they look at all of the factors, the girl does look similar. There’s no disputing that."
Madeleine disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in the Algarve area of Portugal in 2007.
Despite millions being spent on extensive investigations, authorities have recovered very little information about what happened to the little girl.
Police now believe that she was murdered by German paedophile Christian Brueckner, 47, who has since been charged.
